Wisdom Wednesday: It's easier to get a job when you have a job.
It’s easier to find a job when you have a job.
My mother has said this for many years. But she was never able to elaborate beyond that was what she always heard then experience backed up the concept.
When I was seventeen that was a trigger for eye roll response.
But now at forty two, wait let me do the math and make sure I’m forty two. We’re good I’m forty two. I myself have said this same phrase and can back it up with experience. But that’s not enough for me. I want to unpack this wisdom.
So as the post that’s pops the cherry of my new blog I’m gonna break down the why behind this phrase.
It’s my belief that if you have an existing job, are in college, or have a regular place you volunteer others see you and your presence as valuable. That instantly makes you more desirable to future employers.
In addition, when you are applying for a job and have a job you have the security that comes with money coming and bills paid. That creates confidence potential employers pick up on in interviews and may also add to the energy of this phrase.
That’s my take on this wisdom. If you have something more I’d love to hear it in the comments.
Shout out to my daughter who’s a senior getting ready to graduate with a bachelors in graphic design and whom I told to apply for jobs before she graduated that inspired this post.
